VP Gathering 2025 in Breda: Two packed days of creativity, tech and collaboration

04/23/2025 - 11:07

On April 9 and 10, Breda was buzzing with creative energy as attendees gathered at Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) for the Virtual Productions Gathering 2025. Both days were fully booked, with 140 participants on Education Day and 200 on Industry Day.

Participants came from all over Europe—over 20 countries including the UK, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Spain, Ireland, and many more. It is clear that interest in virtual production is growing fast, and this event has become a key meeting point for professionals, educators and students alike.

Bringing the VP community together

Education Day focused on learning and exploring VP in an academic setting, while Industry Day brought together professionals to share ideas, show new workflows and talk about the future of VP in media and entertainment. One of the biggest hits was the series of live virtual production demos, where attendees could see VP technology in action and ask questions on the spot.

Another highlight was the Networking Mixer Party, an informal get-together that gave everyone a chance to meet, chat, and find common ground. Many new collaborations started right there over drinks and conversation.

BUas left a strong impression

For many guests, this was their first time in Breda, and it didn’t disappoint. The city’s relaxed vibe, mixed with the creative energy on campus, made for a great setting. BUas itself turned out to be a real eye-opener for many, with attendees commenting on the quality of the facilities and how much the university has to offer in this space.

As one guest shared on LinkedIn:

“I travelled all the way from Dundee to Breda, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. What an amazing university, and what an amazing gathering.”

Filmmakers, tech developers, educators and students all seemed to agree: this year’s edition had just the right mix of inspiration, insight and hands-on experience.

Looking ahead: VP Gathering 2026

The good news? Next year’s edition is already in the works, and it is going to be even bigger. Thanks to an EU-funded project called AVENUE, the 2026 event will be expanded to three days, including hands-on masterclasses. BUas and Cradle (R&D department of the Academy for AI, Games and Media) are taking the lead as the main drivers of the Virtual Productions theme within this international collaboration.

So, whether you are working in VP, studying it, or just curious about what is next in media production, Breda is the place to be next spring. Keep an eye on vpgathering.com for updates on next year’s programme.
